Adamant: Book Review

Lisa Bevere’s new book, Adamant: Finding Truth in a Universe of Opinions, could not come at a better time for this post-modern society in which we find ourselves. I learned so much about the long history of “adamant” and what exactly it means to be adamant today. Bevere not only discussed familiar topics but she did not shy away from tackling the difficult and challenging truths of God’s Word. So often we only hear about one aspect of God but Bevere was bold in describing the multiple facets of the character of God. What does it mean to be adamant in both love and hate? Does that sound contradictory? What about in reference to the subtitle? To quote Pilate, “What is truth?” Is there such thing as truth? As the world continues descend into evil and to apply lethal pressure to believers to adapt or outright abandon truth what will we do? In the midst of such pressures as social media bullying, teaching from liberal churches, and antagonistic friends and family members are we adamant for truth? I strongly encourage you to pick up Lisa Bevere’s new book to refresh your soul and remind yourself what it means to be adamant.
